Mid Wales Trail Riders Fellowship group

Green lane passing little lake

The Trail Riders Fellowship is a national organisation whose 3,000+ members are dedicated to keeping our ancient roads open for the legal and recreational use of motorcycles.

Mid-Wales TRF Group members enjoy riding through some of the most breathtaking scenery in Britain, but our rights to do this are increasingly threatened by political restrictions at both local and national level.

Joining our group will help us fight this draconian legislation, and in the process safeguard the legitimacy of our sport.

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR - LAMBING

Welsh mountain sheep are not usually taken indoors for lambing, so if you are riding in Wales from early March to May, you may well come across very young lambs. Most lambing occurs in early April, but the higher the land, the later the lambing, and you may encounter newborn lambs until June. Many sheep lamb in the fields and as tarmac and gravel feels warmer to them than wet grass, they often choose to lamb on the road.
PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL if you notice the lamb is very skinny and wobbly. The ewe may run away immediately after birth if you disturb her. If the lamb cannot yet stand or run fast enough to keep up, it may be abandoned. Newborn lambs cannot see very well. If the mother runs away, the lamb may come to your bike, or go to any large object. Remove the lamb to a safe place, but do not try to get too near the ewe. She will just keep running away. Try to leave the lamb where she can see and hear it, and as near to where it was born, and ride off gently and quietly. It takes about 48 hours for the mother and lamb(s) to bond. Sheep
